To celebrate the 124th year of Crufts, UTV will launch talkDOG tomorrow as a 4 day pop-up station.
talkDOG will broadcast shows with the target audiences of dogs at home, with content ranging from how to make the most of a stick to ‘Desert Island Frisbee discs’, where human celebrity’s dogs will pick their favourite tracks.
Special guest host for the pop-up include Pudsey (and his human Ashley), Lassie, Disney/Pixar’s Bolt, Back To The Future’s Einstein and Gru’s Kyle.
Top dog at talkSPORT, Geoff, told RadiAubergine, “With over 8.5 million dogs in UK homes, we wanted to ensure they weren’t feeling left out and alone whilst at home alone.”
Geoff also informed us that “listeners will be to get in touch with the station via dog and bone.”
talkDOG follows a recent increase in pop-up digital stations including BBC Radio 2 Eurovision, BBC 5 Live Olympics and the forthcoming BBC Radio 2 Country, which all allow them to be let off the regular show format leash.
talkDOG will be available online and via DAB nationally from 4th to 8th March.
