An influential radio tech guru, Bald Ed Ferry, has created the Radio Back In Timer app for radio presenters.
The new smartphone based app studio companion allows the presenter to select the date of their ‘Guess The Year’ feature and transport the listeners there.
“Presenters have the option to bring the listeners along for the ride using physic powers and radio smells”, Bald explained to us during a demonstration.
“I’m planning to release add-ons that also allow the presenter to see what the listener looked like on their chosen date. However, we’re having trouble with some of radio’s younger listeners.”
James Cridland, a “radio futurologist“, was also invited to test it and reported back, “This is a nice resource for UK radio stations to use.”
The Swindon born creator is also known for his other studio aids;
- “Love the show” Message Generator – used by BBC Radio 2’s Steve Wright In The Afternoon
- Izit Fresh Enoughometer – used by Bauer’s KISS Fresh
- Rackinitin Gauge – used by Ofcom’s Digital Radio department
Radio Back In Timer is now available for Blackberry and Windows Phone, with Android back timed to yesterday.
An Apple app has been submitted, but is currently stuck in review.
