A new source of fine radio news for the UK was launched yesterday, RadiAubergine.
RadiAubergine, pronounced radio-bergine, will be posting topical articles about the radio industry, both here in the UK and to anyone else who will read it.
Recent stories covered include talkSPORT launching a pop-up radio station for dogs, radio DJs being the sexiest job for men and Jeremy Clarkson joining the SRA’s Demo Factor panel.
The website is run by industry professionals, Mufasa and Simba (right), who have gone from making great cups of tea, to having hot drinks made for them.
Mufasa, Editor of RadiAubergine, says of the launch;
“We’re in a great time for radio. OFCOM are opening up new worlds with the continued expansion of DAB, in-car listening is as strong as ever, and there’s more music variety stations playing the hits for your life launching every other month!
We hope that we can highlight some of the stories people may have missed from other radio news sources, and put our own spin on topics covered to death.”
Simba was very excited to see the website launch;
“It’s great to finally have a lighter news source that gets to the heart of the radio industry. In fact, I’m so delighted I could kiss my computer right now. The new site looks magic, and I have no doubt the rest of the radio industry will absolutely agree. Plus, it’s free to use. I don’t think I could ask for more.”
Upon being asked why the name has ‘aubergine’ in it, Mufasa said “It’s one of the most underused emoji. It wasn’t even rated inside the top 100 most used emoji! Plus, we know that Greg James loves the aubergine emoji.”
RadiAubergine will also be posting news on Facebook and Twitter, as well as covering radio related events like the Student Radio Conference, Next Radio and Radiodays Europe.
